Dla oszczędności czasu i pieniędzy, operację taką wykonuje się najczęściej tuż poniżej połaci dachu. Aby jednak móc z tego skorzystać konieczne jest wykonanie swego rodzaju podpory, na której cegła się oprze. Niedopuszczalna w takich przypadkach jest oczywiście rezygnacja z pustaków kominowych i zastąpienie ich właśnie cegłą. Spływająca z góry zaprawa skleja wkład ceramiczny z obudową, odkłada się na wełnie oraz w przestrzeniach przewietrzających pustaka, który jest poniżej. Dochodzi wtedy, tuż po rozpoczęciu eksploatacji komina, do rozległych uszkodzeń wkładu ceramicznego, oczywiście na skutek braku możliwości jego rozszerzania się pod wpływem działającego ciepła. Rozwiązaniem w takich przypadkach jest zastosowanie odpowiedniej płyty wspornikowej. Zachowuje ona odpowiednie kształty otworów pustaka, jednocześnie wychodząc poza ich obręb, dając solidną podstawę pod powstającą naokoło komina obmurówkę. Okazuje się jednak, że nie każdy komu przyszło się z tym zmagać zrozumiał ideę.
